Two friends from Lido Beach, Long Island are certainly celebrating after winning $8.3 million on the March 18th drawing with the New York Lottery. Randi Bernstein, 63, and Elizabeth Kelly, 56 have been buying lottery tickets together for the past few months, with Randi buying them and Elizabeth scratching them in their unique arrangement. Elizabeth purchased four sets of Lotto Quick Picks for $2 from Rip's Cards & Things which is located on Long Beach road, Oceanside. It was this purchase that led them to discover their win when they checked the Sunday paper in the early hours after the drawing. They matched up all 6 numbers which were: 1, 3, 20, 27, 30, and 49 and have opted to receive their winnings as a lump sum, which brings their winnings down to $1.7 million each following taxes. "Things have been very difficult between Sandy and personal things, so it's been very life-altering. This will make things easier to say the least. I'm very happy". "It's surreal. It's kind of impossible to wrap your head around". They haven't yet made plans on how they're going to spend the money as they're still coming to terms with the reality of everything.
