Tayeb Souami, a 55-year-old accountant from New Jersey was smiling ear to ear after finding out he was the sole winner of a $315.3 million jackpot with Powerball. Souami, told the story of how he was going to do some work, but was distracted by the fact that his car was so dirty, and it was best to go to the car-wash first. On the journey, he spotted a seven-eleven store – which inspired him to check the ticket’s he’d bought earlier using the machine, the first ticket was not a winner, but the second ticket said that it must be seen by a retailer to confirm it’s worth. Bringing it to the clerk, the clerk said “Oh my god, oh my god” over and over again as he saw the amount on the screen. The winning ticket was originally purchased from ShopRite, which is located at South River Street in Hackensack and matched the numbers: 3, 6, 9, 17, and 56 as well as the Powerball number 25. “My day has come” he exclaimed, Souami disclosed that he is originally from Africa although he did not specify which country exactly and has been employed within a food importing company until the time he won, as he quit his job not long after. He explained that this win made him very emotional as he had been playing with the same numbers for a long time and he hopes this kind of luck will come to other people. As a lump sum, his prize will be worth $183.2 million prior to taxes, but he already instated a financial advisor to aid him in decisions of where the money will be going. However, Souami recently refinanced his home in order to pay for him daughter to be able to go to college so now he will be able to pay-off education fees and look after his family and two children.
