Fortune Cookie Leads to $100,000 Lottery Win in Riverdale!

Saturday, March 9, 2019

Diego Caceres, 25 from Riverdale in Utah had his life fortune come into fruition (literally) after winning a $100,000 lottery prize with the Maryland Lottery! Caceres, told the story of how he was out for lunch with his brother at a Chinese buffet and was given a fortune cookie, upon reading the message inside, the cookie told him that this was a day of luck for him. With this in mind, the two brothers later went to a 7-Eleven shop, which was located at 5415 Kenilworth Avenue and Diego, thinking of the fortune cookie borrowed $10 off his brother to purchase a Power 8’s scratch-off. This was actually pretty unusual for him as previously he’s only ever purchased one Maryland instant ticket and he didn’t win anything which put him off playing in the future. “I have to credit my brother. He loaned me the money” Diego exclaimed, if it wasn’t for his brother’s kindness that day, maybe he wouldn’t be where he is now, which is a whole $100,000 richer! The Prince George County resident explained how he picked the game too, he considers 8 a lucky number because he played as the number 8 when he played for both Sao Paulo, Brazil and for Real Madrid, Spain as a Midfielder so the game “Power 8’s” was an obvious choice for him. The winner works as a driver who drives construction workers to and from home and work, as well as dabbling in construction himself on weekends. Now, him and his brother say they will be visiting relatives in various countries including: Guatemala and Spain and there will be no language barriers as Diego speaks: Spanish, English, a little French and Portuguese. They are young, so the brothers want to live life to the fullest and watch many soccer games of course. The retailer will also receive a $1,000 prize for selling the winning ticket.
