A Santa Rosa (CA) man came back from his lunch break as a multi-millionaire. 57-year old Keith Johnson works in the wine business. At lunchtime, he stopped at Sam's Market in Santa Rosa to get a sandwich.
Johnson also purchased a $20 Scratchers lottery ticket. As he returned to work, he was shocked to find out that he won $5 million lottery prize (before taxes).
"I kept [the ticket] in my lunchbox," Johnson said. "It seemed fine, as long as nobody knew I had it. It was always near."
Then he shared the news with his wife.
His mind was still unsettled as he claimed his massive prize, he added.
"Oh, it's a lot of everything," Johnson told lottery officials. "I have some fear behind having that much money and trying to avoid spending it all."
Therefore, it was not surprising that Johnson eventually opted for the 25-year annuity, which amounts to $200,000 a year, according to officials.
Johnson wants to use his sudden wealth to buy a new house, although he is not looking for anything too fancy.
"I'm not much into things, but my wife might have some ideas," Johnson mentioned. "She's got a thousand pairs of shoes."
