Virginia Lottery:

An accidental lottery ticket purchase has landed Michael Donnelly the $7 million grand prize with Cash4Life!

As an employee at a Virginia grocery store, at the time of the Powerball chaos, one of his roles was ringing up these tickets for customers, however on one occasion he messed up by clicking an incorrect button resulting in the printout of a Cash4life ticket which the customer didn’t want. Donnelly solved the problem by purchasing the ticket himself, which came out to be the top prize the lottery offers! The chance of winning it are 1 in 21.8 million, and he won this by mistake!

He has chosen to receive his prize as a lump sum of $7 million instead of $1,000 per day for the rest of his life. After his win, he rang up his wife who said “If that’s true, you have to come home because I’m about to have a heart attack”. The owner of the store will also receive a financial incentive of $50,000 for selling the ticket.
